An Invitation

dressmaking class

Before prospective students commit to taking lessons, we like to invite them to make a no-obligation appointment for a short visit to discuss their interest in dressmaking.
During the visit we can answer any questions they may have and give them the opportunity to view the teaching environment of our workroom.
They can then make an informed decision about whether or not to proceed with lessons.

Attendance and Assignments

One-hour lessons are scheduled as often as required, consistent with a student's learning ability. Most students find that one or two lessons a week is ideal.
Between lessons students practise at home by applying what they have learned in class to related homework assignments.

Certification of Dressmaking

We teach at two skill levels:

  • Essential Dressmaking for home sewing
  • Professional Tailoring and Dressmaking for those planning a career or a business
A Certificate of Achievement is awarded in both categories upon satisfactory demonstration of ability and the meeting of technical standards.
